Global and Regional Performance

Over the last three months Global equities returned +7.1%. While Developed markets delivered the strongest return (+7.5%), Emerging markets were the relative laggard delivering +3.9%. However, over a five-year time frame Emerging markets have significantly outperformed Developed markets, delivering 16.7% against -8.4%, respectively.

ICB Industry Performance

In terms of ICB Industry sector weights, Financials constitute the largest sector in both Developed markets (18.5%) and Emerging markets (26.6%). Comparing sector exposure between Developed and Emerging markets, it can be seen that Developed markets have a larger exposure to Industrials, Consumer Goods/Services and Healthcare and Technology. Emerging markets are more exposed to Oil and Gas, Basic Materials and Telecoms.

The FTSE All-World Index Series comprises the large/mid cap aggregate of approximately 2,800 stocks within the FTSE Global Equity Index Series.

The index series represents 90-95% of the investable market capitalisation across 48 countries split into three market segments:

  • Developed
  • Advanced Emerging
  • Secondary Emerging
